Joy ripped her nylons as she removed her heels. She looked around and saw no one was outside. She quickly peeled them off and threw them in a nearby trash can. Then she started the walk home.
Denver sat on his balcony, nursing a beer. He was still mad as hell. It was a common thing lately. Joy sure knew how to piss him off. He wondered who would give her a ride home. Probably the bartender. He should have stayed. But as pissed off as he was, he knew it wouldn't be a good idea. He did the right thing by getting the hell out of there.
What in the hell?
Joy appeared to be trying to walk home. She weaved all over the sidewalk and was talking to herself.
Denver stormed out of his apartment and stalked towards her. She was drunker than when he’d left earlier. That figures. The woman needed a damn babysitter.
“Hi there, neighbor. Nice night, isn't it?” she drawled.
He still looked angry. Denver followed her to her house. She stumbled on her steps. He caught her before she fell.
“Hey, sweet cake, wrong house.”
Sweet cake?
“You live over there.” She pointed in the wrong direction.
“I'm going to make sure you get inside, alright.”
“Oh, I bet you’d love to get inside,” she laughed. She sat down on her porch swing. “I'm home, go away now.”
“You wish,” he growled.
Her dress rode up her thighs. Denver looked down and saw her skimpy underwear. The thought that she could be flashing the bartender right now made him angrier.
“Shut your damn legs.” She spread them wider. “God, you're acting like a little whore.”
“What’s the matter, Denver? You got something against whores?” she smirked.
Joy amused herself. Denver was far from amused. He wasn’t sure what else Joy had drunk, but she was fucked up.
“I bet I know what your motto is,” she said.
“What would that be, sweetheart?”
“Fuck em' and leave em.' I know how your kind operates.”
“What would my kind be?”
“Oh, you know God’s gift to womenkind.”
He shook his head. “I think you need to lay off the booze. You obviously can't handle it.”
To hell with him and what he thinks.
“I’m going to bed. Leave me the hell alone. I didn't ask you to come over here.” She stood up and stumbled the few feet to her door. Denver followed her into her house. “I could have sworn I told you to go away.”
“Do you want to fall down the stairs and break your fucking neck? Christ, you can't even fucking stand up right now.”
“Fuck this, fuck that. You don't need to be so crude all the time.”
“I don't need to be crude, huh? Baby, I'll show you fucking crude.” Denver grabbed her and jerked her into his arms. He wrapped her hair in his fist and pulled her head backward. “You love to piss me off, don’t you?” he growled. He covered her mouth with his. Tequila. Fuck!
Joy had never been this turned on before in her life. He ran his hand down her stomach and slid it inside her underwear. Damn. She was already wet and ready for him. He ripped his mouth from hers. They both breathed heavily. He was so turned on; he could barely see straight. He took a step back, turned, and walked towards the door. What in the hell am I doing? Acting like a damn animal, that's what. God, he practically mauled her. He needed to get control of himself. He grabbed the doorknob, twisted it, and opened the door.
“Really?” she yelled. “If you walk out that door and leave me like this, don't ever come back. Do you hear me?”
Denver closed the door and stalked towards her. She backed up until she hit the wall. “Leave you like what?” he asked. “What is it you need?”
Joy shivered. What was she getting herself into? “You,” she said softly.
He leaned in closer. “I didn’t hear you. What exactly are you demanding of me?”
“I want you damn it.”
He smiled slowly. “Is it me you need so bad? Or, will anyone’s cock do?”
“Bastard,” she swore.
“That’s right, honey. I’m a bastard. I don’t like being threatened, especially when I’m trying to do the right thing,” Denver said. “Remember this in the morning. I tried to leave. But you’re begging for it.” His mouth came down hard on hers. She wanted to get closer to him, but he held her pinned to the wall with his hard body. She whimpered. He lifted his head. “What’s wrong,” he asked with a gleam in his eyes. “I want to touch you.” He stepped back. Joy wrapped her arms around his neck and rubbed her body against his. “God, I want you,” he said against her lips.
“I need you now,” she moaned. “Please, I want you to bury your cock deep inside me.”
“I’m going to give you what you want,” he growled. Denver yanked her dress up and pushed her underwear off her hips. He turned her around and pushed her against the wall. “Put your hands above your head and keep them there,” he growled. “Now stick that beautiful ass out for me.” With her face pressed against the wall, she bent slightly and pushed her hips out. He nudged his knee between her legs, spread them wide, and took a step back. Damn, she looked good like that.
“What are you doing?”
“Do you know how fucking hot you look right now?”
“Please,” she said
“Tell me what you want,” he demanded.
“You know what I want, damn it.”
He leaned in close to her again, “I want to hear you say it.”
“Fuck me, damn you.”
“Are you sure that’s what you want?”
“Yes, damn it.”
Denver shoved into her hard. Joy moaned. He pulled out of her and pushed into her again. “Is this how you like to be fucked? Do you like it rough and hard, baby? Or do you want it slow and easy?”
“Like this,” she said. “Don’t you dare stop.” He continued to thrust in and out of her, but then he stopped. “What are you doing?” she whimpered.
“I’m not done yet, baby,” he said. He pulled her to the couch and sat down. “Now ride me and show me how bad you need my cock.” Joy straddled him and slowly sank down on him. He groaned as her she tightened around his cock. “Fuck.” Denver grabbed her waist, thrust upward, and filled her fully. He almost lost it when she moaned. He yanked down the top of her dress and flicked open the clasp of her bra. “Damn,” he swore. He cupped her breasts and rubbed his thumb across her nipples. “God, you’re beautiful,” he growled. Joy closed her eyes when he closed his mouth over her nipple and sucked hard. He flicked his tongue across her other nipple and bit down gently. He wanted to make her come apart. She leaned back and bit her lip as he stroked her clit. Joy gasped as pleasure raced through her body. He held her hips as he thrust into her and shuddered.
Chapter Twenty Six
Joy woke up with one hell of a headache. Her nose was pressed against Denver’s chest. She must have passed out at some point because she didn’t remember coming upstairs. He must have carried her to bed.
What have I done? Joy couldn't believe the way she had acted. She was so embarrassed. Tequila. It always got her into trouble. She sat up and tried to get out of bed quietly. This is stupid. I’m sneaking out of my bed. She almost made it.
Denver grabbed her around the waist, hauled her back into bed, and rolled over, so he lay on top of her. “Where do you think you're going, babe?”
“Uhm.” Joy looked away; she could feel her face turning red.
“Look at me, honey.” She looked up at him.
“Do you remember last night?”
“Parts of it.”
“I hope it was the good parts,” he grinned. “Do you remember you begged me to fuck you?”
“That wasn’t me. I drank more than I normally do. I’m usually not this way,” she protested. Liar. You always do stupid shit when you drink. Especially when it’s tequila.
“Well, that’s a damn shame, sweetheart. I like this side of you. Do I have to keep you dr
unk from now on?”
“It won’t happen again. I mean, I don’t even like you.”
“You must like something about me. After all, we are both naked in your bed.”
“It was a big mistake. Trust me; it won’t happen again.”
Joy knew it would, though. After last night, once with him, wouldn’t be enough. She had found her man. And it was going to be worth it.
“You’re breaking my heart, darling.”
“Like you have a heart. Besides, you don’t want to disappoint your fan base.”
“My fan base,” he laughed. “Who would that be?”
“Oh, the hundreds of women waiting for their turn.”
“Hundreds?” he grinned. “Are you jealous?”
“No,” she lied. “I need to get up and get busy.”
“I’ll keep you busy right here.”
“Denver, go away.”
As much as he’d like to stay and change her mind, he did have things to do.
“I’ll see you tonight, babe.”
“No, you won’t. This doesn’t change anything between us. We can go right back to not liking each other.”
“Ok, if that’s what you want,” he sighed.
He would change her mind. Joy was not going to blow him off. Not after the night they had shared. He figured it wouldn’t be hard to change her way of thinking. Of course, he might have to turn her into a lush first.
Gladys drove slowly down the street. Denver walked out of Joy’s house. He wore a suit. If she recalled things right, there had been a wedding the previous night. It didn’t take long for the new woman in town to hook up with the prevert across the street. The woman seemed to jump at every chance she got. This made three times now. At least they weren’t fornicating outside in broad daylight this time. It was a shame there weren’t any young people around without sex on their minds all the time. She had hoped the newest member in town would be a God-fearing Baptist like herself. No such luck. She should have known better.
Denver was the worst one in town. Women always threw themselves at him. He hooked up with every one of them. She had that on good authority. He probably had every one of those diseases preverts got from sleeping around. They’d need an AIDS clinic in town if these preverts kept multiplying. Now instead of Denver keeping his preversion out of town, he was going to flaunt it. He was a filthy, disgusting man.
Denver grinned and waved at Gladys as she drove by. Of all the nerve. He wasn’t even going to hide his whorish ways.
Chapter Twenty Seven
Joy walked to the diner to meet Krista and Melanie for lunch. Denver sat at the counter with Krista. They seemed to be deep in conversation as she walked towards them.
Figures he would be here.
Krista looked up and smiled at her. Joy jerked her head towards a table.
“Looks like she doesn’t want to sit by you,” Krista whispered.
Denver shrugged his shoulders. So, she was going to be a little snob. She could pretend nothing had happened, but they had some amazing sex that he wasn’t about to forget.
Krista followed Joy to the table. Something had happened between the two of them last night. She could tell by the possessive way Denver had looked at Joy.
“I’m not going to sit by that man,” Joy muttered.
“You guys did it, didn’t you?” Krista asked.
“Did what?”
“Don’t play dumb with me,” she whispered. “You slept with Denver.”
“How could you tell?”
“By the hungry look in his eyes when he saw you. I think you’re going to be in a whole lot of trouble,” she laughed. “It’s obvious he wants you again. Denver is relentless. He doesn’t give up when he wants something.”
“So, we had sex. It doesn’t have to happen again.”
“But it will,” Krista said.
“More than likely. But a woman can play hard to get.”
“Honey, why don’t you take a little break and go eat lunch with the girls,” Pearl said.
“Are you sure? It’s only my second day,” Melanie said.
“We’re slow right now. I can handle this on my own. It’ll be nice for you to make some new friends.”
“If you’re sure.”
“I’m sure. Now go have a nice visit,” Pearl smiled.
It wasn’t long before it felt like the three women had always been friends.
“So, I heard there’s a hot new cop coming to Bliss. And he’s young, in his twenties,” Krista said.
“Oh, really?” Joy perked up. “I wonder how hot he is?”
“Do you think he’ll be worth breaking the law over?” Melanie joked.
“Uh, Oh! Hot cop fantasy coming to mind,” Joy laughed.
“Do you think he’d frisk us if we got into trouble?” Melanie asked.
“Just think, he’d have his own handcuffs. I wonder if he’d use them after hours?” Krista giggled.
Joy looked over at Denver. He tried to act as if he wasn’t listening. But she knew he heard every word. She decided to go in for the kill. “I wonder how big his gun is?” she asked.
Krista snickered.
Denver clamped his jaw down and gritted his teeth. His hand tightened around the coffee mug he held.
“Maybe he’ll be single, and you’ll be able to find out his gun size,” Melanie said.
Hell, no, she won’t be finding out. Joy wouldn’t be playing cops with any man. She could get that idea out of her head right now.
“Maybe I’ll find out if it’s locked and loaded,” Joy grinned.
They broke out in giggles.
Joy’s phone rang. “Just a sec. I have to take this call,” she said. “Hi, thanks for calling me back. I wanted to get some prices.” She listened. “Wow, each time? What’s the success rate? I see. Ok, well, I’ll get back with you. Bye.” She shut her phone off and put it back in her purse.
“Is everything ok?” Krista asked.
“Yeah,” she sighed. “I can’t believe how much sperm costs. It’s between $300 -$500.” Denver almost spit out his coffee. “The success rate is only ten to twenty percent. I might have to buy a lot of it.”
“Why are you buying sperm?” Melanie asked.
“I want to have a baby.”
“Oh, duh,” she said.
“I wonder what the chances are of the new cop playing good cop/bad cop with me? Do you think he’d knock me up and then refuse to be a dad?” Joy asked.
Pearl stopped at their table to refill their water glasses. “Why on earth would you want that?”
“I want a baby. I just don’t want the man that comes with it.”
“Are you really going to go to a sperm bank?” Melanie asked.
“I’d have to get another job. I can’t afford it right now,” Joy said.
Denver had heard enough. He stood up and stormed out of the diner.
“Wonder what his problem is?” Melanie asked.
Krista looked at Joy. She had a big smile on her face. “I wonder what it could be?” Krista asked. “I bet it was listening to Joy talk about another man’s gun that pissed him off.”
“Either that, or he didn’t like hearing about you wanting to buy some guy’s sperm,” Melanie said.
“We aren’t together. I can talk about any man’s gun that I want too. I also need to start baby planning. I only have a little over a year before I turn thirty.”
“Maybe Denver can help you out,” Krista laughed.
“Do you think he’d sign off his rights?”
“Uhm, hell, no!”
Krista steered the conversation in another direction. “Is Roger still after you?” she asked.
“Yes. I don’t know if I’m ready for a relationship,” Melanie said.
“When was your last one?” Joy asked.
“Well, it’s been three years since I’ve been in one. The last one was Brandon’s dad.”
“That bad, huh?” she asked.
“Yeah, it was. I don’t know; maybe it’
s time. It does get kind of lonely. Roger is a nice guy. He’s nothing like my ex. He’s the complete opposite in every way. I would never get into another relationship with a guy like Brandon’s dad. He was too controlling.”
“Sounds like my ex,” Joy said. “Mike was a control freak. Drove me crazy. I don’t want to be in a relationship ever again.”
“What about Denver?” Krista asked.
“What about him? I’m so not going there,” Joy protested.
“I don’t know Denver is hot. He’s also a sweetheart,” Melanie said. “Maybe I should go for him.”
Joy frowned.
Melanie winked at Krista when she saw the look on Joy’s face. Joy was claiming ownership of Denver. It hadn’t taken long to figure out that something was up between the two of them.
Denver drove back to work. Damn her! Now he was going to have to make sure he kept her away from this new cop. He hoped the guy was married. Denver had to leave town for a couple of weeks. He didn’t want to come home and find Joy playing cops & robbers with the new police officer. Why in the hell did Bliss need another cop?
Chapter Twenty Eight
Joy stood outside of Denver’s apartment. She hadn't planned on going over there. Her package was delivered to his apartment. She wore cut off Levi shorts and what was once a white tank top. Her top was dirty, and her hair was coming out of her ponytail holder. She was also barefoot. So, I look like I've been rolling around in the dirt. Screw it. Who cares? It’s just Denver. It’s not like I’m trying to impress the man.
Denver answered the door. “Damn baby, you sure clean up real nice. Did you get dressed up just for me?”
Joy was hot, cranky, and not in the mood for his teasing. “Just give me my package.”
He held the door wide open. “Come on in and have a beer.”
“Said the spider to the fly,” she muttered.
“What was that?”
“Nothing.”
Joy agreed to have a beer against her better judgment.
“Just a minute. I’ll be right back.” Denver handed her a beer when he came back into the living room.
She held the cold bottle to her head and moaned, “This feels so good.”
